Reasons We Keep Choosing Waco, TX

Waco might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of a family getaway, but for our little crew, it’s a favorite repeat destination. This was our third time visiting, and our very first time flying as a family of three…10/10 recommend!

Getting to Waco: Easy and Stress-Free

We booked a direct Delta flight from ECP (Panama City Beach) to AUS (Austin), which made things so simple. Bonus tip: Waco is just about the same distance from Dallas too, so depending on where you’re flying from, you’ve got options. We prefer Austin’s smaller, more manageable airport over DFW, it’s a smoother experience when traveling with a toddler!

We checked Presley’s car seat and rented a car for the quick drive into Waco.

Waco Surf: A Water-Lover’s Paradise

Our family has a thing for water, and @wacosurf_tx makes this trip totally worth it. Whether you're floating along the lazy river, riding waves in the surf lagoon, flying down waterslides, or just lounging in a poolside cabana, it’s a dream setup for both kids and adults.

They’ve got food and drinks available for purchase, but one of my favorite little touches… Filtered water stations for your bottles and free sunscreen. The kind of details that make a big difference for parents.

Where We Ate: BBQ & Brunch Dreams

When we’re not in the water, we’re eating well. Magnolia Table is always a staple on our list. Yes, it lives up to the hype. And this time, we tried Terry Black’s BBQ… and WOW. 🤌🏼 So dang good.

Why Waco Works for Us

You might be surprised to hear Waco is a top pick for our family, but that’s honestly part of the magic. It’s not overrun, there’s charm around every corner, and the mix of outdoor fun + good food hits the sweet spot every time.
