The Boats We've Loved: A Piece of Our Coastal Story

It’s been a running joke that boats don’t stick around long with us,  and it’s true.
We’ve had 13 boats since we’ve been together (I had to scroll back through old photos just to remember them all).

Not to call anyone out, but… boat shopping is definitely my husband’s love language.

Our boats have always matched the season of life we were in.
When we lived on the river, we had our fair share of river boats: aluminum, tiller handles, stick steers — you name it. That’s actually when I learned to drive a stick steer by myself. A few other fond memories, we did sink one... and bought the same boat back later from the guy we sold it to.

Top pick: the Pathfinder — it’s the boat we keep coming back to.
Worst pick: the Parker. Never again. 😂

If you're thinking about getting into boating, here’s my advice:
Choose based on your season of life and the resources you have right now. Boating can be expensive, yes, but it can also be so worth it. The goal is to get out there, make memories, and have fun.
It doesn’t have to be perfect, and it definitely doesn’t have to be forever. (Pun absolutely intended.
